Cypress at Water's Edge Bas Relief

Inspired by Monterey’s iconic Lone Cypress and the shoreline of Kono Tayee on Clear Lake, this bas relief brings sculptural and painterly depth to laser-cut steel.
Each piece begins with a precision-cut steel form, then is hand-textured and uniquely finished, making every Cypress one of a kind. RTV clay is applied to build surface character, followed by a hand-painted copper-bronze finish that captures the interplay of light, shadow, and form. Bumpers on the back create a subtle cast shadow that gives the piece a sense of lift and mystery when displayed.
