Breastplate is the tongue-in-cheek name for this warrior. The idea came to the artist when she first spotted a papaya tree in Kauai. She had never seen one before and was amazed at how similar it was to the famous sculpture of goddess Artemis of Ephesus. Being a new stepmom (breasts) and a more than fulltime worker in the marketplace of Silicon Valley (armor) she thought it was a fitting embodiment of her state of mind at the time. Breastplate encapsulates both sides of superwoman trying to do it all - but never quite achieving the work-life balance!
